STRAFOR
Styrofoam is the trade name for a material called polystyrene foam. Polystyrene is a thermoplastic produced from a petroleum-derived raw material. Styrofoam is a lightweight, rigid and compressible material often used in a variety of applications such as thermal insulation, packaging and modelling. Here are some properties and usage areas of styrofoam:

Lightness: Styrofoam is a lightweight material and therefore easy to transport and handle.
Thermal Insulation: Styrofoam is a good thermal insulation material. It is used to reduce heat loss in the walls, roofs and floors of buildings.
Waterproofing: Dense styrofoam materials can be waterproof, so they can be used in waterproofing applications. However, standard styrofoam can absorb water and is therefore not suitable for use underwater.
Formability: Styrofoam is a material that can be easily cut and shaped. This makes it ideal for modelling, sculpting and decorative applications.
Bondability: Styrofoam can be assembled with adhesives or spray foams. This allows large styrofoam sheets or pieces to be assembled to create larger projects.
Packaging Material: Styrofoam is frequently used for packaging and protecting fragile products. In addition to being lightweight, its resistance to impacts makes it a preferred material in the transportation industry.
Crafts and Modeling: Styrofoam is a popular material used in crafts and modeling projects. Being easily cut and shaped allows artists to be creative in different projects.
Construction and Decoration: Styrofoam can also be used in construction and decoration projects. It is frequently used, especially in interior decoration, in the production of decorative panels or ornaments.
